TravelWe are about 30km West of La Voulte and 30km North of Privas in the centre of the Ardèche region. The A7 motorway is only an hour away and is easily accessible by car. The nearest International airports are Lyon, St. Etienne and Grenoble.Click for an interactive map of how to find us ![]() By Car : Via the A7 :Travel down the A7 Motorway and take either the Valence Nord exit and follow the N86 direction Valence Centre and Privas/Le Puy en Velay. When you arrive in Valence follow the signs for Privas - you will cross over the Rhone river and then continue to follow the N86 in the direction of Privas / La Voulte. Follow the directions below. Or we recommend you take the Portes les Valences / Valence Sud exit (one more along the motorway after Valence Nord) and follow the signs for Privas/Le Puy en Velay and then just Privas and the N86. There is a brand new bridge to cross the Rhône which will take you straight over to the N86. Via the A49 : If you are travelling from Grenoble take the A49 in the direction of Valence and Marseille. Take the exit Portes les Valences and follow the signs for Privas - use the new bridge to cross the Rhône river. This will be indicated Privas as well as Valence and Guillerand Grange. You will then pick up the same road as for the A7 directions - the N86. Follow the directions below : And then… About 5km from La Voulte there is a turn for the D86e in the direction of Beaucastel and the Eyrieux Valley - take this to Beaucastel and then follow the D21 to St. Laurent du Pape. Follow the directions for Les Ollières sur Eyrieux and Saint Sauveur de Montagut. When you reach Saint Sauveur de Montagut take the D102 in the direction of Saint Pierreville. The village of Albon is about 16km from Saint Sauveur and is sign posted along the St. Pierreville road. Do not take the left turn into Saint Pierreville village but carry straight on for another 5-6km. Just before you reach the village of Albon on your left is a stone building with white metal gates and a signpost Le Mournet - you have arrived! Walk down the gravel drive and come into the courtyard - we will be there waiting for you.. Northern Ardeche Article by Jason Burke The Observer 2008 Heading South down the busy A7 Autoroute du Soleil make the point of turning off early. Before the exits for Vallon and its famous canoe-thronged arch and long before the T-junction for Provence or Languedoc, turn to the west and into the Northern Ardeche - the green or diary Ardeche as the top half of this central mountainous region is known, in contrast with the oliveoil Ardeche further south. Here there are fewer gorges, fewer people, fewer caravans and fewer German school parties. Instead you can enjoy a landscape like a warmer drier Scotland with high moors, plunging valleys, sheep galore, rushing torrents and superb walking on empty well-signposted trails such as the Route des Dragonnades, the road built by Louis XIV's engineers to allow his soldiers to patrol the rugged hills and repress grumpy Huguenots. It is calmer, less crowded and, in many ways, muchmore French than the tourist hotspots further south. There are plenty of hotels but are best off renting a gite. You'll need a car - or at least bikesand strong legs. There's kayaking in the tiny town of Les Ollieres and near Privas there's an acrobranche centre if you want to join the kids sliding on wires through the treetops in a pine forest. And then there is the Rhone Valley shimmering in the summer haze and the motorway packed with all the cars heading further south. Their loss!". |
