The Mournet is situated at the entrance of the village of Albon in the heart of the Boutières National Park next to the Massif Central at an altitude of 630m. The village benefits from a warm climate and despite the tranquil environment the house is only 500m from the village shop & bakery (open Sunday mornings as well), Tabac and bar. We (the discrete English / French owners) live in part of the property and Charlotte (the English one!) is a qualified yoga teacher so if you want a private yoga session let me know. I also do the Ayurvedic massage so be prepared to relax.The villages surrounding us are all traditional stone villages often beautifully restored and despite the rural beauty of the area there is plenty to do...there are tennis courts, canoe-kayaking, climbing, cycling, walking, swimming, horse riding, plenty of restaurants using local produce, shops, markets and bars. There is a private tennis court only 5 minutes walk from Le Mournet and we have an agreement with the owner to rent it by the hour for a small fee paid locally - we also have tennis raquettes to hire. The entire area is packed with beautiful walks through chestnut woods and the river meanders down through beautiful gorges where you can swim and fish. This area is a must if you are a fan of great country walks, splendid views, nature at its finest and totally unspoilt countryside. We also have a few bikes to rent so that you can explore on two wheels instead! There are some great adventure parks in the trees for kids of all ages (we know we have done them), wonderful villages & castles to visit, extinct volcanos, waterfalls, parks & attractions for the little ones, horse riding... and the wine and food are not bad either!"
The Ardèche is best known for the majestic gorges of the Ardèche, 50 km of spectacular natural beauty where you can go canoe-kayaking, swimming, walking, rock climbing, hang-gliding, absailing & white water rafting and visit the spectacular Vallon Pont d’Arc, the natural rock arch of the Ardèche gorges.
...alternatively you can just sit back, relax and drink a glass of local wine surrounded by nature, the true France Profonde with touch of modern luxury.
Distance from : Aubenas 40km (about 1 hour), Lyon 2 hours, Avignon 2 hours and Vallon Pont d'Arc 1hour 20 minutes.
