What a relief to find a gite where the website lives up to expectations and the hosts are as genuine as the countryside. Youv'e chosen a beautiful corner of the Ardeche and we've loved our stay at La Grange. Highlights have been the walk to the Champs de Mars, meal at the Moulin de Croisier and just whiling our days away in the garden, by the pool and next to the river. Tom is a convert to Ayurvedic massage and I'm about to have a yoga lesson which I'm mucch looking forward to. The Summer of 2011 has proved to be an amazing one if a little strange weather wise

with guests from literally all over the world who have delighted in the Ardeche and the Mournet's offering. We have worked so hard over the last 8 Summers to try and create a place that combines the peace and tranquility you expect from a rural location, a place where people can play, laugh and run around, explore the region near and far and generally enjoy their holidays to the full from a comfortable base.

Book early to avoid disappointment.....have a great Winter season...if you find yourself in Val d'Isere or Tignes then do let us know as Christian rejoins his office on the slopes & Charlotte teaches yoga & massage (and skis as much as she can!)

Each year we try to update, renew and improve Le Mournet both inside and out so as well as adding to our kiddies play area will be working on the new croquet lawn area and the peace garden to creat a quieter area for reflexion for those that wish and we will be growing a large amount of our own organic produce

We will be with the help of a percentage of profits sponsoring a child from Haiti called Christopher through his education this year and for the forthcoming years - we are passionate that all children should have access to good education even the poorestt so do help us in any way you can with this and our other chosen charity Pennies for Peace and the Central Asia Institute who build schools in rural Pakistan and Afganistan

Where we are..

Just 2 hours from Lyon the Mournet is a beautifully restored farmhouse that dates back to 1860. Its a wonderful place to get away from all the stress of the current credit crunch with yoga, massage, lazing by the pool, gentle walks in the unspoilt countryside that surrounding us, a meander to local restaurants and wonderful markets, watch the last rays of sun enjoying a glass of chilled rose....there is something for everyone here and we would love to share this corner of paradise with you. Recently renovated this old farmhouse now offers three beautiful independant holiday properties from which you can explore this fabulous and largely undiscovered region. Each has its own individual charm & style the garden level (La Chataigne), the stables in the courtyard (L’Ecurie) and the barn at road level (La Grange). Each property has been created to have its own private entrance and terrace and/or garden with BBQ and outisde dining area. The interiors are well equipped with modern comforts and have a contemporary feel - a real home away from home. The 12m x 6m Swimming Pool (salt water filter) is situated in the south-facing gardens that slope gently down to the Gluyere River where you can fish for trout, play in the natural rock pools (for kids of all ages) or just enjoy the view. The pool is cleaned daily and boasts a large sun terrace with loungers, parasols and a thermal cover placed on the pool every evening to keep the water at a comfortable temperature. The large gardens are well maintained with little “English touches” and plenty of space has been allocated for games including a table tennis table, swings, slide & croquet pitch - even space hoppers!. A beautiful private tennis court is just 5 minutes walk away, bikes can be rented from us to explore on 2 wheels, you can enjoy a yoga session or relaxing massage in the Prana House or just chill out by the pool.

The Little Extra Touches

We believe that the “Little Extras" count. That is why we make sure your stay is as well-prepared as possible. Your bed linen & towels (hand, bath & tea towels) are provided and beds are made up before your arrival so no need to motivate yourself for this after a long day of travelling. You can take a dip in the pool and enjoy a glass of local wine from the complimentary bottle waiting for you in your chosen property. A basket of home grown walnuts, herbs from our garden and pillow chocolates also welcome you to Le Mournet. You can also pre-order a welcome basket (see little extras for details) to save you shopping the day of your arrival. A detailed welcome folder will help you prepare your holiday itinerary with something for everyone we hope.. from a gastro/wine tour to sports and local sightseeing, from canoeing down the Gorges & swinging through trees to relaxing by the pool with a good book....Each property is equipped with flat screen TVs, DVD players, UK and French television channels, Ipod Speakers/charger and Wifi Internet connection and we have a large collection of DVDs you can borrow, board games, books.....just need your passport & your swimming costume so what are you waiting for!

Le Mournet is situated in the heart of the Ardeche in the Eyrieux Valley – about 2 hours drive from Lyon and Nimes and 1 hour from Valence. The wild and unspoilt beauty of the Ardèche countryside holds many surprises and is a delight to explore at any season with views to dazzle even the most seasoned of traveller. There is something for everyone from wine tasting to walking, from canoeing to chilling out, from cycling to sun tans, from yoga & massage to sightseeing and gastronomy....

A small footbridge at the end of the garden leads you to the very traditional village (500 metres from us) with its Thursday market, well-stocked village shop, bakery & bar/tabac. With a unique little restaurant hidden away just a 5 minute walk alongside the river you can;t fail to fall under Le Mournet chailled out charm.
